EU MEMBERSHIP FAILS TURNING BULGARIANS INTO HAPPY UNION CITIZENS

Only 39 per cent of the Bulgarians feek happy and 31 per cent are satisfied with their standard of living, a European Commission (EC) research showed.

According to research quoted by mediapool.bg, Bulgarians are the unhappiest people living in an EU country.

As much as 87 per cent of the EU citizens are happy in the union. Danes are the happiest EU citizens, followed by the Dutchmen, Belgian and Irishmen.

Social reality in Bulgaria is very different from the one in other EU member states, the research said. People in Bulgaria evaluate negatively most aspects of their life.

Healthcare worries Bulgarians the most. Prices, unemployment and pensions feature among the other problems.

Nearly one third of them believe that standard of living will worsen in the year to come, research showed. Another 44 per cent of the Bulgarians said that their life will remain unchanged in the next 12 months.

Almost 72 per cent of the Bulgarians distrust institutions. Bulgarians also believe that having luck was more important than working hard, mediapool.bg reported.
