The European Parliament (EP) would vote on the reports on Bulgaria and Romania’s EU accession during its sitting from December 11 to 14 2007, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.
At the same sitting, the EP would also vote on the European Commission's (EC) recommendation that the two countries be accepted on January 1 2007.
MEPs have until November 6 2006 to present their comments on the reports.
The EP foreign affairs committee would in November discuss the report by the EP rapporteur for Bulgaria, Geoffrey Van Orden, BNR said.
There was a slight possibility that the EP would approve Bulgaria’s EU accession during the EP short sitting at the end of November 2006, BNR said, quoting sources close to the EP. The EP schedule was constantly changing and it was hard to predict the precise date of the voting, BNR said.
