Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) chairperson Bozhidar Danev suggested fines and rewards for employees, stimulating them to report company irregularities.
All employees receiving higher wage than the one listed in their contract could be fined, Novinar newspaper reported. Employees can avoid such sanctions if they reported irregularities.
Danev said that employees will remain anonymous and in this manner are protected from dismissal.
Such system was one of the ways to deal with Bulgaria’s grey economy, Danev said.
Amnesty for tax and social security violators was also possible, Danev said. For a certain time period companies will be given the option to make all payments needed, without suffering from sanctions.
One year ago labour unions suggested the criminalisation of company failure to pay social securities.
Danev said that if such measures were introduced, the state will receive nearly three million leva that were previously diverted. These funds could be used for higher pensions and better healthcare and education, Danev said.
