On Tuesday June 12, medics from Pirogov emergency institute in Sofia are going to hinder the passage of vehicles at a key crossroad as a sign of protest.
Medics demonstrated for an hour on June 8 and decided to continue the protests on June 12.
Also on June 8, medics will meet Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov to discuss further protests. Pirogov employees demand higher wages and better working conditions.
In case the demands are not met, medics will get ready to start striking. On June 8, medics will select the members of the strike committee to negotiate with authorities on the demands.
The aim of the protest was to draw attention to the problems in the hospital, medics said.
On June 7, members of the parliamentary healthcare committee turned down a draft law envisioning changes to in the status of hospitals that medics believed was necessary to improve functioning of healthcare institutions.
