09:00 Thu 19 Apr 2007

The members of European Parliament (MEP) electoral campaigning will get the participation of various Bulgarian pop folk singers.

Parties will oppose each other in their electoral platforms, as well as in the selection of singers for their campaign events, Novinar newspaper reported.

Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) said that it will hold a number of concerts before the elections. Azis, Ivana, Kamelia and Anelia are all pop folk celebrities that will support BSP’s campaign.

The National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) relies on the support of pop folk diva Gloria.

BSP will stage its first concert in the coastal city of Varna on April 20. During the same day, the party will present its election posters carrying the slogan Europe for You.

NMSII’s programme includes 28 events throughout the country. The party’s slogan is NMSII- The European Face of Bulgaria.

Opposition right wing party Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) will start its campaign with a happening. The party will refrain from holding concerts and shooting election video clips, Novinar reported.
