On May 16, economic police launched an investigation targeting cigarette producer Bulgartabac Holding.
The inspection of the Bulgartabac building in Sofia resulted after Prosecution decided to look into the holding’s affairs in April.
Investigation focuses on fund diversion. It is still ongoing, investor.bg reported.
Nearly 20 days ago Bulgartabac got involved in a scheme that also saw the participation of National Investigative Service (NSI) head Angel Alexandrov and Economy and Energy Minister Roumen Ovcharov.
Bulgartabac holding executive manager Hristo Lachev said that Alexandrov asked him for a 150 000 leva bribe.
Lachev said that the holding already submitted to Prosecution all documents needed for the inspection. The situation was calm already, Lachev said.
Prosecutor Nikolai Kokinov said that the scheme under investigation focused on significant amount of funding. Six prosecutors will work on the case under Kokinov’s management.
