Bulgarian ecologists told the European Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee about the process of exclusion of Bulgarian territories from the Natura 2000 project.

Representatives of the committee are expected to visit Bulgaria and get acquainted with the situation in April, Darik Radio reported.

Bulgaria has difficulty deciding on the percentage of territories to be included in the European environment network. Ecologists called for maximum inlcusion while businesses said that the network will hinder investment projects.

Ecologist said that they are worried that the new highways and the oil pipeline Bourgas-Alexandroupolis will pass trough the territories of Natura 2000. Environmentalists said that they were ready to protest.

Experience in all parts of the world including US show that once a precious environment is desecrated it cannot be recovered and wildlife suffer as well. There are so many forms of non-petroleum energy, like wind power, available to Bulgarians. Your precious environment is your children's legacy. Protect it.
