Sofia University students from the university club UNESCO launched a project called Green University to show the need of information campaigns on ecology problems.

The topics to be discussed in the ‘university’ are biodiversity and Natura 2000, genetically modified food and bio-agriculture, renewable energy resources and separate waste collection.

The project includes discussions, film screening, photo exhibitions, and mountain cleaning and provides information on ecological problems. Part of the materials is in audio format for the visually-impaired.

Exams are not obligatory and everyone writes down their own marks.

An information stand and eco-library were opened in the main building of the Sofia University on November 20 2007.

The first seminar will be held on November 26 2007 at 7pm in Sofia University’s main building, south wing, hall 65.
