Eco organisations started campaigns against French bank BNP Paribas’s participation in the Belene nuclear power plant (NPP) project.
After eco organisations Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth published an online declaration of protest, they will launch demonstrations in front of BNP Paribas offices in France and 13 European countries, French newspaper Liberation reported.
The main aim of the protests is to provoke reaction from the bank's staff. The bank is reportedly planning to fund the nuke project in Bulgaria's Belene.
The bank won the National Electricity Company (NEC) tender for project funding worth 250 million euro. The total funds needed for the project completion amount to four billion dollars, the report said as quoted by Darik Radio.
