The team of enlargement commissioner Olli Rehn confirmed that the final European Commission report on Bulgaria’s readiness to become EU member would be presented on September 26.
A number of major news agencies misunderstood and quoted incorrectly Rehn’s spokesperson Christina Nagy, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
Nagy said that EC reports on countries from the Western Balkan region and on Turkey would be presented later. This did not apply to the report on Bulgaria and Romania’s reform progress, Nagy said.
EC would decide during its November 8 session on which date the reports for the Western Balkans and Turkey would be presented.
The final EC report is expected to examine the latest developments in Bulgaria and to present the EC’s entry date recommendation for Bulgaria and Romania.
