Canadian company Dundee Precious Metals could turn to an international arbitration body in case Bulgarias Environment and Water Affairs Ministry continues delaying its decision on the effects of the companys projects.
So far Environment and Water Affairs Minister Djevdet Chakurov has refrained from giving the evaluation that will enable Dundees local division Chelopech Mining expand its activity.
Chelopech Mining executive director Laurence Marsland said that Chakurov demanded state participation in the project. Such option is unacceptable for the company, he said.
Marsland said that Chakurov is doing everything possible to harm the reputation of Dundee Precious Metals.
Bulgaria and the Netherlands have a joint agreement for encouraging investment. Dundee plans to use this agreement in case it turns to international arbitration institution, as Chelopech Minings assets belong to Dutch companies.
