Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) would work together to push for ahead-of-term elections because Bulgaria needed a new government, DSB leader Plamen Yuroukov and GERB leader Boiko Borissov announced after their meeting on January 11.

DSB and GERB had reached agreements on shared preparations for early elections, which would include all aspects of government, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) quoted the two political leaders as saying.

According to Borissov, a vote of no-confidence could be filed on just about any topic or area, adding that early elections were unavoidable.

DSB and GERB said they would separately take part in parliamentary and European parliament elections. They agreed on the formation of a contact group, which would work on proposals for changes to the election law.

Borissov said that the relations with other parties had not been discussed and that the main opponent was the ruling coalition.

The two parties were unanimous in their position about Kremikovtzi. They agreed the installation should stop working until it could meet EU ecological norms.

According to Borissov and Yuroukov, the parliamentary commission which would investigate the Kujović case should be coordinated with the opposition, BNR said. Borissov said the prosecution should interview other employees of the Interior Ministry besides the deputy director of police in Ragrad Todor Dimov.
