Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov will demonstrate a new opportunity for parking in restricted areas in the capital through sending an SMS message.

The new way of parking is valid as of July 2, Focus news agency reported.

Initially Sofia municipality will work together with M-Tel and GloBul mobile phone operators. The service can be used in three of the so called ''blue zones''.

The first zone includes the tree squares near Alexander Nevski Cathedral, along Moskovska street opposite Vassil Levski monument and Oborishte street, between Vassil Levski boulevard and Dunav street.

Second zone includes Narodno Subranie square and the third one includes Macedonia boulevard and Hristo Botev boulevard reaching Rouski Pametnik square.

SMS parking will gradually spread over the entire blue zone. Citizens can send an SMS to 1302 including data for their car and will receive an answer that they are allowed to park. Five minutes before the parking period has expired drivers will receive an SMS as well.

Parking price is one lev per hour, apart from the price of the SMS.
