Bulgarian National Assembly approved on first reading changes to the parties law, according to which parties would receive double state subsidy. No funding restrictions for their sponsors will exist, Darik Radio reported.
The parties would get two per cent of the minimal salary for each vote received in the elections. Up till now the sum amounted to one per cent. The financial control will be strengthened.
Every year management of all the parties would have to present assets declarations. The parties would have to present in their annual accounts a list of all their sponsors including the sums granted, Darik said.
If the assembly approves the law changes on second reading the existing funding limit will be abolished. The limit amounts to 10 000 leva for a physical person and to 30 000 leva for companies.
Law changes aim at transparency in parties funding, recommended in the last EU report on Bulgaria's readiness to join the union.
