The dossiers of all Bulgarian officials would be opened, according to the classified information regulations accepted on second reading by the National Assembly on November 29.
Opening previously classified files will reveal the names of officials who co-operated with intelligence services during communist times.
MPs turned down a suggestion for the classification of information concerning the heads of administrative offices and the national intelligence service, Darik Radio reported.
Most MPs rejected the idea for banning people with dossiers from taking public offices. The Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) and the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union (BANU) supported the suggestion, saying that people who co-operated with secret services could not rule the country.
A nine-member committee will be responsible for the opening, storage and presentation of previously classified information.
Parliament will select the committee members. The National Assembly turned down the proposal for the committee members to refrain from belonging to a political party.
