The dossier opening committee in Bulgaria will present to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) information on the past of members of European Parliament (MEP) candidates this week.
The committee was formed to open the classified archives of the former State Security intelligence service. Its first task was to check whether any of the MEP candidates were intelligence agents or if they submitted information to the secret services.
CEC submitted a list including 207 candidates, which was later reduced to 144 people to be investigated.
The committee already started working with the Interior Ministry, Defence Ministry, Prosecution and the national investigation.
On April 24, the committee will hold a close session, during which members will discuss the results of the investigation. On April 25 the committee will present the information.
