Bulgaria ranked seventh on number of medals won in the European figure skating championship held in Warsaw.

Belgium, Finland and Poland also ranked seventh, Bulgarian National Radio reported. The bronze medals ice dance champions Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski won contributed to Bulgaria’s ranking.

Two gold medals granted France the first place. Russia ranked second and for the first time since 1982 missed the first spot.

Denkova and Staviski were given third place after the compulsory dance. Though commenters said their free programme was impressive, judges gave them a moderate score making the Bulgarian pair unable to move up in the ranking.

French skaters Isabelle Delobel and Oliver Schoenfelder ranked first, BGNES Sports agency reported. Russians Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin took the silver.
