On August 14 2007, Bulgarias town of Tsar Kaloyan declared two days of mourning for the eight victims of the floods that deluged the town.
Torrential rains in the beginning of August 2007 destroyed many houses, caused electricity and water shortages and damaged agricultural lands and telephone connections. The eight victims drowned in the floods.
Authorities and citizens are still trying to clear the roads and to remove the animal carcasses. Psychologists help local population deal with the terror they have experienced.
Interior Minister Roumen Petkov would visit the region and would meet local authorities, including Tsar Kaloyan municipality mayor Ahmed Ahmedov, Focus news agency reported.
Petkov will discus with the municipal mayors co-operation between police and local authorities in emergency cases and in restoration of affected areas.
