The Danish parliament is expected to ratify Bulgaria and Romania's EU accession treaty by November.
Bulgarian Speaker of Parliament Georgi Piriniski was assured by his counterpart Christian Mejdahl that Denmark would ratify the treaty in due time, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.
The date was chosen in view of the expected European Commission (EC) final entry date recommendation for Bulgaria and Romania, allowing enough time for discussion in the Danish parliament, Pirinski said.
Pirinski is in Copenhagen to take part in the annual summit of parliamentary speakers from EU member states. Parliamentary development and ways the EU could demonstrate it fought problems efficiently were among the main subjects of discussion, BNR said.
People distrusted the union and discussions focused on ways national parliaments could co-operate to decrease the distance between the union and its citizens, Pirinski said.
During the meeting parliamentary speakers decided that the national assemblies should discuss EC projects before these are presented to the European Parliament (EP).
