Denmark had begun the process of ratification of Bulgaria’s EU accession treaty, a Bulgarian Foreign Ministry media statement said.
Bulgaria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Evgenia Koldanova and Bulgaria’s ambassador to Denmark, Ivan Dimitrov, were present at the sitting of Denmark’s parliament.
The spokespersons of parties represented in parliament expressed their firm support for the EU accession of Bulgaria and Romania, the statement said.
Koldanova met Danish parliament European affairs committee chairperson Elisabeth Arnold and state secretary Michael Zilmer-Johns, and briefed them on Bulgaria’s progress in meeting the European Commission’s requirements.
Arnold and Zilmer-Johns assured Koldanova that Denmark would finish the ratification process as scheduled before the end of November 2006.
Denmark and Germany are the only two EU countries that are still to ratify the treaty.
