UNUSUALLY poor shooting and five penalties brought down Bulgaria's Nagano 1998 Olympic Champion Ekaterina Dafovska at Sunday's biathlon world cup in Holmenkohlen, Norway.
Dafovska finished 21st, but still retained her leader position in the general rankings for the World Cup with 568 points. Bulgarian Pavlina Filipova finished ninth in the competition. Sylvie Becaert from France lost her second place in the overall rankings to Martina Glagow from Germany who bettered her by 11 points, and won the Holmenkohlen competition.
The previous day, Davovska finished fifth in the 7.5km sprint. Pavlina Filipova was right behind her.
A total of seven individual events of the World Cup remain before the end of the season. Additionally, the European Biathlon Championship will be held in the Italian resort of Forni Avoltri between February 25 and March 2.
