
EU reforms, energy issues and the US anti-missile shield in Europe featured among the topics of discussion during a meeting of Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin with Czech prime minister Mirek Topolanek.
Topolanek said that Bulgaria was playing an important role as new EU member state.
Bulgaria and the Czech Republic co-operated in various sectors, the two officials said, among which union affairs and energy issues.
EU should state clearly its standpoint on the use of various energy sources, among which nuclear energy, Kalfin and Topolanek said.
The two officials also discussed the recent visit of US president George W. Bush to European countries. Topolanek said that an agreement between the Czech Republic and the US concerning the positioning of the US anti-missile shield would be reached in the coming months.
According to both Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, the system should be integrated for all NATO members.
