Customs agents at Capital Andreevo border checkpoint seized a record shipment of nearly 40kg of gold and silver jewelry.

Officers also found nearly four kg of synthetic gemstones.

The jewelry was found on April 8 during a border inspection of a bus having Turkish registration. It was traveling from Istanbul to Skopje.

Value of the seized jewelry reached 440 8000 leva, experts said. The precious goods were hidden in the air conditioning system of the bus.

Officers found nearly 25kg of silver jewelry and 8.4kg of 14-carat gold jewelry.

A week ago officers seized 600gr of gold jewelry.
