Court lacks the authority to take a decision on the status and the preservation of the Strandzha Mountain region, head of the Supreme Administrative Council (SAC) Konstantin Penchev said.
Recently court ruled out that the decision of the Environment and Water Affairs Ministry turning the area into preserve was void.
Society had wrong understanding of the power of court, Penchev said. According to constitution, court cannot take away the preserve status of protected areas and national parks.
Court can only rule out if a decision is legal or not, Penchev said. Environment and Water Affairs Ministry should have taken care of its decision on the status of the region and should have avoided ambiguities in framing that.
Pressure from society and media was worrying, Penchev said. Judges were impartial and should not be blamed, he said.
