CONSUMER PROTECTION COMMISSION IN BULGARIA EXAMINES HOLIDAY VIOLATIONS
09:03 Wed 03 Jan 2007

Bulgaria's Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) will fine 14 companies for violations during the Christmas holidays.

CPC received various complaints. More than 85 people reported violations, Focus news agency reported.

Most of the complaints were related to tourism services and the quality of purchased goods.

A number of the received signals were inspected. CPC said that violations registered in the tourism sector were typical for the holidays.

Some of the violations were registered in Bansko, concerning services that were advertised in a hotel but not available.

In hotels in other resorts conditions also differed from the ones initially advertised, Focus reported.

Citizens also complained of power cuts on New Year's Eve.
