The conspiracy theory behind the HIV infection in the Libyan town of Benghazi, for which five Bulgarian nurses were sentenced to death, was turned down in the past, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Dimitar Tsanchev said.
Libyan media reported again on February 7 that secret organisations and intelligence services stood behind the mass infection.
Tsanchev said he could not analyse Libyan media and the reasons for the latest coverage of the HIV trial.
Libya Today reported that Bulgaria's intelligence and the Israeli Mossad were responsible for the infection of more than 400 Libyan children.
The report said that the campaign in media came as a response to all initiatives undertaken in European countries to demand the freedom of the nurses.
“Everyone behind the Bulgarian intelligence is an accomplice in the infection,” Libyan Al Gomhuria reported on its website. The report called for an end in the relations between Libya and the countries that doubted the fairness of its justice system.
Al Gomhuria reported that “facts confirmed that responsibility for the infection was in the hands of Bulgarian intelligence and foreign investigative services.”
