The unique Japanese band Yamato will be giving a spectacular concert at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) on June 23. It will start at 8pm and ticket prices vary from 25 to 50 leva.
Yamato has given concerts around the world, but this will be their first time in Bulgaria. The uniqueness thing about the band – its drums. They include traditional Japanese drums, called Uadaiko. The band travels with a few dozens different drums, including Uadaiko, which were made from wood about 400 years ago.
The style of their music is a combination of traditional Japanese music and modern rhythms. The show will have music, dance, meditation, and theatre. The band was established in 1993 and consists of 11 men and women. Including women in the performers is said to be revolutionary in relation to Japanese traditions. The philosophy of the band is the belief that drum rhythms, like the heard beat, are the pulse of life.
