PRICE CUT
Bulgaria’s largest private gas distributor Overgas cut the prices of gas deliveries to Dunavgas by 4.6 per cent as of September 1, the company has said in a statement. Dunavgas sells gas in northern Bulgaria near the Danube River and its hub is in Rousse.
ICE CREAM
Food giant Nestle plans to move its ice cream production from Romania to Bulgaria. Nestle has a factory in Varna, where the ice cream will be made as well, Nestle representatives in Bulgaria and Romania said, as quoted by Bulgarian-language daily Dnevnik on September 3. The decision was a result of re-organisation of its business.
LIDL IN BULGARIA
German retailer Lidl will start building a pilot outlet in the city of Lovech, northern Bulgaria, the company said. Work on a further five outlets will begin by the end of 2008, followed shortly by the start of construction of five more Lidl stores. The discount-segment retailer hopes to have 10 to 12 open outlets in Bulgaria by 2010. The company will also invest in a distribution centre, the land for which has already been bought, although the company is yet to disclose its location.
BUSINESS PARK ROUSSE
Business Park Rousse will be ready to welcome its first tenants in the first quarter of 2011, developer Iris said on September 3. The development will be built in three stages, Bulgarian-language daily Dnevnik reported. The business park, sprawling over 2.3ha in Bulgaria’s largest city on the Danube River, will have only class A office buildings.
BULGARTABAC
Bulgartabac Holding, the former Bulgarian tobacco monopoly, reported a net loss of 25.4 million leva for the first six months of 2008, rising from the 14.4 million leva consolidated loss recorded in the first quarter of the year, Bulgarian-language daily Monitor reported on September 3. In July 2008, Bulgartabac sold two of its loss-making factories in Plovdiv and Stara Zagora on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, which is expected to help its full-year results.
