09:00 Tue 16 May 2006

Starting May 15 coastal construction in Sunny Beach resort will be forbidden.

Yesterday Nessebar mayor Nikolai Trifonov signed the regulation, forbidding construction works during the summer season.

Most new constructions are located in the western and northern zones of the Black Sea resort, Focus news agency reported. Two police teams inspect construction sites for violations.

Fines reach up to 500 leva.

At the same time head of the State Agency for Tourism Mario al-Djebouri will discuss with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Strazhkovski the chances for higher number of Russian tourist visits to Bulgaria.

Talks will take place on May 16 and 17 in Moscow, during the ninth session of the Bulgarian-Russian intergovernmental committee.

A 500 Lev fine to a construction company is not going to prevent building work continuing. This is a typical response to the problems that Bulgaria is facing in its attempt to join the EU.
