On November 25 Cinemania 2007 would be officially closed with the premiere of new Bulgarian film Small Talk at Sofia's Lumiere cinema, Bulgarian News Agency BTA reported.
Cinemania would continue with a retrospective of French director Jacques Demy until November 29, the organisers announced.
Yoana Bukovska, Ivailo Hristov, Yuri Angelov, Itzhak Fintsi, Diana Dobreva star in director Vladimir Kraev's Small Talk. The screenplay was based on Chekhov's Uncle Vanya motifs but the action takes place here and now.
Several men and women driven by the cruelty and vanity of civilisation find their temporary wharf in a small seaside village. Here they meet love, jealousy, betrayal, devotion but mainly human kindness. They ascertain their characters and systems of values and make their choice.
According to the director the film was an attempt to look with a smile and sympathy at intelligent people around us, incapable of taking life as a battle, but capable of standing for their values at all costs.
Lola, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Donkey Skin, Bay of Angels and The Young Girls of Rochefort were included in the Jacques Demy retrospective as well as Jacquot de Nantes - Agnes Varda's tribute to her late husband - Jacques Demy, BTA said.
