CHILD TRAFFICKING SCHEME ORGANISED IN BULGARIA UNCOVERED IN GREECE
14:35 Tue 26 Jun 2007

Greek police busted an organised criminal group that dealt with child trafficking in the country.

The group trafficked pregnant women to Greece. There, the women gave birth and sold their children, Greek media reported.

A 29-year old Bulgarian woman contacted Greek police. She told them that four of her companions left her in the hospital shortly after she gave birth.

The woman arrived in Greece on June 11 and was kept locked in an apartment. Previously she agreed to give her child to a Greek family.

Since the child was born with health problems, the deal was cancelled, Greed media reported.
