The US oil company Chevron gave up its decision to participate in the Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline project.
Chevron lacked financial interest to invest in Bourgas-Alexandroupolis, mediapool.bg reported.
The pipeline will transport Russian oil from Bulgaria’s port of Bourgas to the Greek Alexandroupolis. Russia will own 51 per cent of the shares, while Greece and Bulgaria will share 24.5 per cent each.
Russian and Bulgarian governmental resources reported that Chevron was interested in Bulgaria’s share.
Chevron’s only comment on the reports was that the company was examining all opportunities.
The withdrawal of the US company endangers the oil supplies to be transported, mediapool.bg said.
