Czech Electricity Company (CEZ) might have to choose between the execution of Bulgarian and Romanian nuclear projects, Reuters said as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
This became clear after CEZ won Romania's preliminary approval to build the two new reactors of Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) on the Danube over a number of European energy companies.
CEZ was at the same time one of the 5 strategic investor candidates in the construction of Bulgarian Belene NPP, Dnevnik daily reminded. Last week Czech prime minister Mirek Topolanek expressed his support for CEZ investing in Bulgaria's NPP.
However, currently there was no information what influence CEZ's participation in the construction of the Romanian reactors would have on its Belene offer. Most analysts were positive that the Czech company did not have the capacity to attend to both projects if it would win the Bulgarian one as well. This meant that if CEZ got the execution of both nuclear projects, it would probably have to choose between Cernavodă and Belene, Reuters said.
CEZ had investment interests in Bosnia as well, Dnevnik daily reported. Bosnia's government was looking for a company to build 8 electric power plants.
