A cargo train carrying acid derailed in the early hours of March 5 near Varna at the Sindel train station, private broadcaster bTV reported.
The incident happened at 3.55am, bTV said, quoting state-run railway carrier BDZ. No one has reported to have been harmed so far and no information has been released about possible acid leaks as a result of the incident.
BDZ did not own the derailed locomotive and cargo car, which are property of the private company Bulgarian Railway Company.
Passengers from the Sofia-Kardam train that was moving behind were transported to their destination by buses, the National Medical Coordination Centre said. BDZ trains are now being re-routed to avoid the location, because the derailed locomotive and cargo car have not been moved yet, bTV reported.
