CABLETEL CONTINUES WITH BUYING SPREE
19:20 Thu 01 Nov 2007

Bulgarian cable operator CableTel EAD, headquartered in the Bulgarian capital, received regulatory greenlight to buy 100 per cent of the capital in Panagiurishte-based Cable-Pan EAD, a statement of the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) released on November 1 reads.
The CPC said the deal would not have a significant impact on the sector of the two companies in operation.

CableTel is fully owned by Ramford Alliance Ltd. The purchase is part of CableTel's corporate strategy to invest in hi-tech networks capable of streaming cable television, high-speed Internet access, Internet telephony, rented lines and virtual private networks.

CableTel has been on a buying spree for several months now. Among the newly-purchased assets is Eurotour, which previously included the networks of EstNet Sofia, Stara Zagora-based Verea Cable, Chirpan-based Eurotour and Kozloduy.

CableTel, with investments in Macedonia, is mulling expansion into Albania and Serbia as well.
