NO CONCESSION
Bulgaria’s Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) overruled an appeal by Agropolychim against the refusal by the Cabinet to give Varna-Zapad port on concession to the company, Dnevnik daily reported on May 6. According to the CPC, Agropolychim did not meet the requirements for concessionaires under the law on ports.

LOSSES
Bulgartabac Holding companies sold 2752 tons of cigarettes between January and March 2008, a 14.5 per cent decrease on an annual basis, investor.bg said on May 5. According to Bulgartabac, the reason for the decrease was the higher excise on tobacco products introduced in 2008.

ECO FEES
Bulgarian business demanded more serious control on the payment of eco fees for vehicles, Anastas Todorov, head of the association of vehicle importers said on May 6, as quoted by Dnevnik daily. On April 30, the Cabinet approved differentiated fees, varying between 80 and 200 leva, depending on the age of the vehicle.

ACQUISITION
Austrian investment fund Immoeast acquired 50 per cent of Cherno More Park (Black Sea Park), projected as the biggest commercial centre in the coastal city of Varna. Investment in the project will be 150 million euro.
