US president George Bush thanked Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin for the warm welcome he received in Bulgaria.
Kalfin was in the US for the 65th UN summit, Bulgarian news agency BTA said. Both met during the reception Bush gave for the UN summit participants.
Kalfin told BTA that Bush sent greetings to the six Bulgarian medics who spent eight years in Libyan prison on charges of deliberate HIV infection and recently returned to Bulgaria.
The US was one of the countries who defended the Bulgarian medics.
Bush showed special interest in the condition of the medics and their adaptation, BTA said.
Kalfin, on his turn, thanked Bush for the US' help in finding a solution for the case.
