US president George W. Bush sent a letter to his Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Purvanov, congratulating him for the re-election in the October 29 presidential elections.
Purvanov received the letter from US ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
The US sees in the face of Purvanov a real ally and somebody who understands the need of good diplomatic relations to guarantee Bulgaria's stability, Beyrle said.
US investment in Bulgaria in 2006 was expected to reach record high level, Beyrle said. Several major American projects were going to be carried out in the country in 2007, said he.
Joint military bases in Bulgaria also featured among the topics of discussion during Beyrle's meeting with Purvanov, BTA reported. The first US soldiers to undergo training in the Bulgarian bases were expected to arrive to the country in the end of 2007, Beyrle said.
