The board of directors of state-run tobacco company Bulgartabac Holding appointed Angel Dimitrov as the second executive director of the company, Bulgartabac said in a statement on April 7.
The first executive director, Hristo Lachev, is on leave while the Prosecutor's Office completes the investigation into Lachev's alleged tax evasion.
The board decision comes days after the supervisory board of the company decided to expand the five-member to include Dimitrov. The other members of the board are Deputy Economy Minister and board chair Kornelia Ninova, chief executive Hristo Lachev, Georgi Kostov, Assen Shehov and Ivan Bilarev.
Dimitrov has been with Bulgartabac since 1997. His previous position with the company was deputy executive director and head of the production and technical department at the company's Sofia subsidiary.
