BULGARIA’S DENKOVA TO RECEIVE FAIR PLAY AWARD

Ice dancing world champion Albena Denkova will receive the fair play award of international association Fair Play Mecenate.

The ceremony will be held on July 6 in Italy, Bulgarian Olympic Committee said.

Previous holders of the association’s award include Pope Benedict XVI, football coach Sven Goran Eriksson and firefighter Daniel Nigro, who took part in the September 11 rescue operations.

Apart from the award ceremony, Denkova will take part in a roundtable discussion on sports and peace together with representatives of the International Olympic Committee, the Vatican and the International Fair Play Committee.

Fair Play Mecenate awards were first given in 1997. The award is given to people who have achieved something in the spheres of sport, culture and social policies.
