Trento volleyball team, lead by Bulgarian coach Radostin Stoichev and with Bulgarian national team players Matei Kaziyski and Vladimir Nikolov in its starting line-up, won Italy's volleyball title late on May 7 2008.
Trento won against Piacenza with a smooth 3:0 for the match and 2:1 in the championship series to become Italy's 63th champion. This was the first championship title for Trento, which was founded in 2000.
The game was played at the PalaTrento hall in northern Italy, which exploded with celebrating fans after the final whistle. For Piacenza this was a second consecutive lost final.
Declared as Europe's best volleyball player for 2006, Kaziyski once again proved his world class and was named MVP of the final series.
The three Bulgarians came to Trento at the start of the season and proved priceless for the team. Trento's title is one of the biggest successes achieved by a Bulgarian coach abroad. Two other Bulgarians are also playing for Trento - Smilen Mlyakov and Vassil Stoyanov.
