Bulgarians were poorly informed about the Bulgarian-American agreement on shared military bases and equipment in Bulgaria, a BBSS Gallup International survey has found, according to Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
Only seven per cent of Bulgarians polled knew the locations of the bases that Bulgaria and the US had agreed on, the poll said.
Three to four per cent of Bulgarians knew only vaguely what size the US contingent in Bulgaria would be.
Only two per cent knew that the bases would be under Bulgarian command, the poll said, as quoted by BNR.
According to experts, Bulgarians were poorly informed because they lacked interest in the matter and retained stereotypes formed during the Cold War.
