The five Bulgarian youths who had written the best essays on the “My voice for the future of Europe” topic were invited by European Parliament member Dushana Zdravkova to participate in the Constitutional Agora in Brussels, Bulgarian News Agency BTA reported.
The Agora will take place on November 8 and 9. The young people will discuss power independence, migration policy, adoption of the public's right to put forward petitions to the European Commission, transparency of the legislative procedures of the Council of the European Union, structure of the European civil society and the ways it can influence European policy-making.
The five Bulgarians will get to know the work of the Bulgarian members of the European Parliament.
The initiative Citizen's Agora reflects European Parliament's desire to combine the best aspects of direct democracy with those of representative democracy by mobilizing representatives of the European civil society.
The Brussels forum on November 8-9 will be attended by President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering, chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs Jo Leinen, Bulgarian member of the European Parliament Dushana Zdravkova, representatives of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU, and others.
