BULGARIAN STOICHKOV FIRED BY CELTA - SPANISH NEWSPAPER
09:15 Tue 09 Oct 2007

Spanish newspaper Marka cites private sources saying that former Bulgarian international Hristo Stoichkov has been fired as manager at Celta de Vigo.

According to sources of the newspaper, Stoichkov's replacement was Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, who's the former trainer of Real Madrid.

Stoichkov started as trainer in April 2007, but has not managed to keep the club from falling out of the Secunda Division, Focus news agency said.
From 2004 to 2007, Stoichkov was coach of the Bulgarian national team. In april 2007 the Bulgarian Football Union announced they had accepted the resignation, largely because of poor performance of the team at the current Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, followed by widely spread criticism and debate over the qualities of the coach.

At the moment, Celta ranks 11th in the Secunda Division with 10 points, 11 less than leader Malaga.
