BULGARIAN STATE TO COVER FULL MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR CHILDREN
17:42 Fri 19 Oct 2007

The Bulgarian state would cover medical insurance for all children up to the age of 18 at the full rate of 6 per cent, instead of the current 0.5 per cent, Parliament decided on October 19.

The changes to the national health insurance law were proposed by United Democratic Forces MPs Banyo Sharkov and Martin Dimitrov, mediapool.bg said.

Parliament further accepted amendments to free Bulgarians, who had worked and been insured for more than 183 days in a year abroad in the period between 2000 and 2006, from having to pay health insurance taxes in Bulgaria over the period in which they were abroad.

A third change, a proposal by MP Petar Mrutskov to free women over 60 and men over 63 from having to pay the own-contribution for their general practitioners was accepted by Parliament.
