BULGARIAN STATE SPORTS AGENCY HEADS HUSBAND SHOT IN SOFIA

Manol Velev, head of the Bulgarian bowling federation and husband of State Agency for Youth and Sports (SAYS) head Vessela Lecheva, was shot in Sofia on the morning of July 11 2007 in front of his office.

Focus news agency quoted police as saying that Velev was being operated on at the citys Pirogov emergency hospital after being shot in the head and twice in the body.

Police sealed off the area where the shooting took place and were questioning witnesses.

Velev is the president of Akademil football club and is involved in the management and ownership of several companies.
