Bulgarian snowboarder Aleksandra Zhekova won the European cup in the boardercross discipline.
The Bulgarian ski federation will do everything possible for Bulgaria to host world championship competitions next season, BGNES Sport agency reported.
Zhekova said she is content with her performance, as well as with the third place in the world cup championship round in Kronplatz.
Due to technical problems Zhekova failed to achieve good results during the Winter Olympics in Turin. The negative experience proved helpful for other competitions, Zhekova said.
Next season Zhekova plans to compete in another discipline, halfpipe. The discipline is more attractive and requires higher skill level, according to experts. As a result, it attracts more audience and sponsors.
Victor Zhekov, father and coach of Zhekova, said international companies have already expressed interest in providing funds for the competitor’s preparation.
