The Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) joined the campaign calling for the freedom of the five Bulgarian nurses sentenced to death for intentional HIV infection in Libya.
A stripe carrying the slogan of the campaign You are Not Alone was placed on the facade of the BRC building in Sofia, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
All BRC representatives wore the stripe to show their support for the campaign on January 23 2007.
Volunteers from the youth organisation of the BRC collected more than 15 000 signatures to request freedom for the nurses sentenced to death on December 19 2006.
Representatives of the BRC nurses' club prepared a letter addressing the medics in Libya as part of the support campaign, BTA reported.
The message, as well as the sign-up list were submitted to the Foreign Ministry, which would be responsible for taking the signs of support to the sentenced Bulgarians.
A number of Bulgarian media organised the You are Not Alone campaign. The majority of Bulgarian state officials already joined in.
