Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov will take part in the fifth summit of the heads of state and government of Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union that will be held in Peruan capital Lima on May 16 2008, the presidency's press service said.
Purvanov will take part in the two work sessions of the summit - the one on poverty, inequality, inclusion, where he will make an opening statement; and sustainable development, which will focus on climate change, environment and energy.
Following his trip to Lima, Purvanov will visit Spain, where he will open the fourth world meeting of Bulgarian media in Madrid on May 19.
Purvanov and his wife, Zorka Purvanova, will have lunch with Spanish king Juan Carlos and queen Sofia at the Zarzuela palace in Madrid.
The President will be accompanied by Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin, the permanent representative of Bulgaria to the EU Boiko Kotsev and several aides on his trip, the presidency's press service said.
