Slovenian power company Holding Slovenske Electrarne (HSE) bought an energy plant in the north-eastern Bulgarian city of Rousse from the Bulgarian Privatisation Agency (PA).
In October 2006, the Slovenian company bid 85.1 million euro for the plant, a sum greater than what was offered by Frances Dalkia or Germans E.ON Energie, according to Thompson Financial, as reported on Forbes.com.
In 2006, a power plant in Varna was sold to the Czech CEZ for 206 million euro.
Originally, another plant was put up for sale by Bulgarias PA in 2005 in the western town of Bobov Dol. However, protests by miners caused the cancellation of the deal.
One-fifth of Bulgarias electricity is generated by the plants at Rousse, Varna and Bobov Dol.
